This course is to introduce the students of English Department to the basics concept of linguistics. The discussion covers the sub-divisions of linguistics (Phonology, Morphology, Syntax, and Semantics) and also the branches of linguistics including Sociolinguistics, Pragmatics, Psycholinguistics, and Systemic Functional Linguistics.

Students of the third semester or above are eligible to enroll to this course.

Upon the completion of the course, it is expected that students be able to apply the basics concept of linguistics in their own language.
